14 lessons from a content marketing founder (you can use today)

The Couple·preneur

Hey friend,

Quick check-in from the Couplepreneur corner of the internet.

Things are moving forward over here.

SAF Digital is growing.

We’re learning a lot about running a business that’s lean, personal, and scalable.

A big part of that growth has come from having deeper conversations with other creators and entrepreneurs who are building the kind of future we’re working toward—location and time independent, and full of creative autonomy.

This week, I got to sit down with my friend Ido Lechner, founder of Magic Media, a really innovative content marketing agency doing some wild stuff on LinkedIn.

If you’re building a business—or thinking about it—you’ll find so much value here.

We talk about hiring and scaling, the importance of getting your voice out there, and how content creation can lead to real momentum.

And if you’re not building anything right now but love hearing smart, thoughtful people share honestly about their journey—this one’s still for you.

Ido is sharp, generous, and really fun to talk to.

I think you’ll love this episode.

Here are a few takeaways that stood out to me from the conversation:

If you’re cash-tight, don’t hire for time—hire for outcomes.

When Ido couldn’t afford a full-time sales rep, he created a commission-only structure based on client results. It aligned incentives, limited his risk, and built momentum with zero upfront cost.

Your content should answer two questions: why does this matter, and who is it for?

It’s not just about what you say—it’s about the intent behind it. When you speak clearly to someone specific, your message hits harder.

Commenting on social media is one of the most underrated ways to grow your business.

Thoughtful engagement creates visibility, builds real relationships, and often leads to collaborations.

→ Treat every comment like a mini piece of content.

People want to follow people—not brands.

Founder-led storytelling builds trust faster than polished logos. The more human you are, the more magnetic your message becomes.

The magic happens when 1-to-many content leads to 1-to-1 connection.

Marketing gets you attention. Relationships close the gap. A smart business system includes both.

Everything has been designed by someone—for someone.

Your desk, your house, the device you are using to read this. They are all designed with purpose.

What about your business, your life, your daily routine. Why not design them on purpose?

If your content sounds generic, you’re not listening closely enough.

The gold is often in the throwaway lines—your lived experiences, quirks, and phrases. Great storytelling starts by paying attention to your own voice.

Use AI to accelerate, not to replace.

AI can give you speed—but it’s your thinking, taste, and curation that sets your content apart.

A single conversation can produce weeks of content—if you capture it right.

Ido’s team turns founder interviews into written posts, video clips, and newsletters. (Super validating, because this is what we do at SAF Digital as well!)

What’s one way you could repurpose something you’re already doing?

If it doesn’t sound like your voice, don’t publish it.

AI is helpful—but only if you start with your own thoughts. Your voice is your brand.

Don’t create content to sell. Create to serve.

The best marketing earns trust long before the pitch. Helpful, generous insights do more for your business than any CTA.

Every single post, email, or podcast is a chance to be remembered.

You don’t need to go viral. You just need to connect with one real person who needed to hear what you had to say.

Content marketing is a long game—but it’s a powerful one.

The people who read your post today might become clients next year. Keep showing up.

If you want more reach, start with more resonance.

When someone feels seen by your message, they’re far more likely to share it.
