The Couplepreneur

As Couplepreneurs, we love building businesses… together. We love building a family and community… together. We love building, sharing, learning, and growing… together. And that’s exactly what we talk about each week.

🟠 We've been building this for 11 years

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, Eleven years ago, Adam and I got married barefoot in the botanical gardens of Key West, surrounded by a small group of friends we’d made over nine months of living there. We showed up with no jobs and no long-term place to stay, just a dream of building a life that wasn’t boring. We had no roadmap, but we did have a shared sense that life was meant to be lived fully. And we wanted to build that life...together. Here we are eleven years later. Still committed to...

🟠 Why we're ditching GOALS and doing THIS instead

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with GOALS. There’s a voice in my head that says:“You should be more goal-oriented. That’s how people succeed, right?” But every time I try to set big, concrete goals, I end up either feeling drained or like I’ve failed. When I do hit a goal it's usually because I've pushed myself the whole way, trying to prove something to some perfectionist version of myself. Other times, I don’t hit the goal and I feel like I’ve let...

🟠 Turning "have to" into "get to"

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, Soon after our daughter was born last September, I posted something on Facebook that hit home for a lot of people: We have to go to soccer practice. We have to make dinner, clean up, do the dishes, and fold the mountain of laundry. What if all we did was change the have to’s into get to’s?" We get to go to soccer practice. We get to make dinner. We get to do the dishes. We get to fold the laundry. It's just a small shift in words. But it completely changes the...

🟠 Different seasons = different ways of showing up

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, The last few weeks, I’ve been picking greens from my in-laws’ garden and shopping at our local farmers market. Summer produce always reminds me of the beauty of seasons. How different times of life invite different ways of showing up. It’s a nudge to pay attention. To bring awareness to our choices. To ask whether we’re acting on autopilot, doing what we think we should,OR making decisions rooted in our own clarity and inner knowing. It’s so easy to look outside...

🟠 A bigger life = allowing open loops & discomfort

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, When Adam got back from biking across Kansas with Arlo,he was feelin’ it. That post-trip overwhelm. The kind where you re-enter life and suddenly all the to-dos come rushing in. He said something we’ve both said a dozen times in business: “I just feel like there are so many open loops I need to close.” We’ve used that phrase before, especially when trying to tie up client communication or clear a task list at the end of a long week. There’s real satisfaction in...

What money and relationships are really showing you

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, I’m in the middle of reading two books this summer... The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins (all about relationships)and Make Money Easy by Lewis Howes (all about money). And I can't help but notice a striking connection between the two: Money and relationships both magnify whatever’s already alive within us. At first, that might sound unsettling. But I actually think it’s good news. It means how we experience money, marriage, motherhood, family, or business has...

How preparation becomes presence

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, Summer is officially here. Which means pool days, lake trips, and floating down the river. It means bike rides, ice cream socials, and out-of-state family visits. The constant shuffle of packing and repacking bags with swimsuits, snacks, and sunscreen. As the boys bike across Kansas, I find myself enjoying a rare cool morning to reflect and soak it all in. The birds are singing. The studio door is wide open.Eva is crawling around in her pajamas. And I was able to...

Big dreams require bold effort and quiet support

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, Adam and Arlo are training for BAK (Bike Across Kansas). A week-long, 475-mile ride from Colorado to Missouri. (Yep, you read that right.) On a tandem bike. With 400+ other riders. This week in preparation, they decided to bike from our house to our family cabin at Kanopolis Lake. That’s a 56 mile ride! Eva and I were the support crew. We met them on a dirt road, 10 miles to go, armed with water, chocolate, and lots of cheering and encouragement! The next day,...

Find your people, Memorial Day, Music, Connection, and More

The Couple·preneur Hey friend, This Memorial Day has me thinking about connection. Our experiences and those we share it with truly make life rich. Whether we are remembering those who have gone before us,thinking of those who will come after us,or savoring those who are in our midst right now, May we remember and feel the joy that having good people surrounding us brings to our lives. So in the spirit of enjoying our people, here’s a list of ways we found connection this week. Song we’re...
