Hey friend,
I used to hate the idea of sales.
And when you choose entrepreneurship, that becomes a bit of a problem.
Because sales?
It’s a huge part of it.
But here’s what I’ve realized:
It wasn’t the sharing I was afraid of.
It wasn’t the offering.
It was setting a price.
It was charging actual money.
The quiet vulnerability of saying: this is worth paying for.
During my recent experiment with the Virtual Live Yoga Summer Series, I felt something shift.
Teaching the classes came easily.
That part, lights me up.
Even talking about it publicly felt surprisingly natural.
I wasn’t trying to convince anyone, I was simply inviting people into something I believed in.
It felt like sacred service.
It felt like me.
It felt aligned with who I am, the journey I’ve taken, and the path I’m still on.
But setting a price?
Receiving money for it?
That’s where I hesitated.
That’s where fear surprised me.
Then I read a post from Keveney Evanne Avila, one of Adam’s clients and a prosperity mentor for high performers.
These were her words:
“
Most people don’t hate sales. They hate being fake.
Sales isn’t about convincing, it’s about connecting.
Stop dimming your light to make others comfortable.
The world needs what you have, but first you need to believe it’s worth paying for.
That hit me.
At. The. Perfect. Time.
Because even though the series sold out, 12 people for 12 spots,
I knew deep down, I had underpriced it.
I was afraid to charge what I knew it was worth.
When I was deeply honest, unfiltered and real with myself, I realized:
I was afraid no one would sign up if it felt “too expensive.”
I was afraid of looking like a failure.
I was afraid that pricing it too high would somehow prove I wasn’t worth it.
This experiment showed me that I was still playing small.
Still unsure if I could fully own or live up to the value I was offering.
And that tension and fear?
It became a gift.
It showed me where I’m still growing, not in my ability to give, but in my willingness to receive.
After recognizing these fears within me, I am truly challenging myself to embody Keveney's words:
"The world needs what you have, but first YOU need to believe it’s worth paying for."
Adam’s been on his own version of this too as he steps more fully into his strategy work with business owners.
We’ve both been learning to create from our zones of genius and trust that the right people will feel the alignment and respond to it.
Keveney’s framing helped clarify what is already unfolding for both of us:
“
When you’re aligned with your zone of genius, selling becomes sacred service.
We can both feel that shift when it comes to "sales."
We’re no longer asking, “How do I get people to buy this?”
We’re asking, “How can I show up fully, so the right people know this is for them?”
We’re still figuring it out.
But we’re getting closer.
And it's getting more fun.
We’ve started asking better questions:
- Am I creating from my zone of genius?
- Am I letting it be joyful, easeful, and real?
- Am I rooted in service, not scarcity?
And we’re letting go of old beliefs like:
- “I need to have it all figured out before I can charge premium prices.”
- “If someone says it’s expensive, I should offer a discount.”
- “I need more credentials before I can charge what the experts charge.”
- “It’s selfish to care about money.”
- “Good people don’t focus on prosperity.”
We’re letting those go...together.
Not always at the exact same time, but always in sync.
Because that’s what this journey is:
A process of unbecoming everything we’re not,
So we can offer the world what we truly are.
Here’s to building a life you love...together,
Maggie (& Adam)
P.S. If you can relate in certain ways, about selling, pricing, visibility, or your own zone of genius, we’d love to hear from you.
We believe transformation multiplies in community, and that it’s in relationship we become the fearless, creative, prosperous humans we were meant to be.
